At 1st Phoenix Community Center, we believe that access to healthy and nutritious food is a fundamental right for all individuals, regardless of their financial circumstances. That is why we are committed to alleviating food insecurity in our community through our free grocery program. We understand that many families and individuals struggle to afford basic groceries, which is why we provide a variety of fresh produce, pantry staples, and household essentials at no cost. Our program not only ensures that no one goes hungry, but also promotes the importance of a balanced diet and empowers individuals to make healthier choices. By offering free groceries, we hope to contribute to a healthier and more resilient community.

No sign-up, no ID, just simple statistical information

The 1st Phoenix Community Center only asks anonymous general questions to keep statistics about our visitors and is not meant to invade anyone’s privacy. We ask for a name, the number of people you are providing for, whether there are children or older adults in your household, would this be your first visit to the pantry and whether the visitor is a veteran. That’s it!

Where does the food come from?

The food that we provide comes from several sources: A large portion of our food is purchased from grants we receive from philanthropic organizations that help those who are in need of a little support. We also get food from ACCESS and we may order, at low cost, available supplies from Oregon Food Bank. Also, their Fresh Alliance program is set up for ACCESS to receive donated food from grocery stores in the region, which are shared with all the local Pantries.

The Phoenix Food Project collects food on the second Saturday of even months from local neighbors who fill their Green Bags for the 1st Phoenix Community Center to distribute through our center. We also receive food directly from generous local grocery stores who want to help the community by giving nutritious food to the food insecure. Please support those stores who support us!
